WALKING FOR DOLO - 25TH SEPTEMBER 2011
Dolo was rescued in 2007. He had been kept for four years on a 1 metre chain for 24 hours a day. His desperate conditions compelled the Ethiopian Widlife Conservation Authority, with the Born Free Foundation’s help, to rescue him.
He now has a wonderful permanent home at Ensessekotteh, the new Born Free Reserve near Addis Ababa which he is sharing with another of Born Free’s rescued lions; the young lioness called Safia for whom we walked last year.
Sadly the suffering Dolo experienced during his early years has resulted in disabilities which mean that he require special help for the rest of his life. He is almost blind and has problems with bone development but is still capable of a long and happy life.
Our Wildlife Walk 2011 will be raising money to help care for Dolo - sponsorship forms available <here>
